Dan Berry is Service Provision Deputy Audit Manager. He is heavily involved in Q-Mark Certification - the product certification scheme for building and construction products.
Dan joined BM TRADA in 2005 and has held a series of roles, including Fire Testing Technical Officer, Fire Laboratory Supervisor, Fire Laboratory Lead Technician, Fire Service Facility Co-Ordinator, Fire Laboratory Technician and Maintenance Officer. This has given him a strong understanding of the business.
In his role as Service Provision Deputy Audit Manager, Dan continues to work very closely with the fire laboratory testing facility team, including fire, smoke and acoustics, and the technical assessment team.
Dan is the direct line manager for the Q-Mark South UK Service Provision Client Managers, and he enjoys being able to explore a variation of areas within the business that could lead to direct improvements within the department, for example, the FIRAS certification scheme.
The Q-Mark Certification department is an ever-developing area within the industry. Dan’s role aids in redesigning and evaluating current scheme requirements and processes in line with industry expectations and potentially designing new certified schemes. He also project manages the assessment centre facility, including design and development and creating procedures and processes that meet business safety requirements. The assessment centre now houses 2-3 weekly High Wycombe and Wednesbury audits.
Dan has always had a keen interest in fire safety, coming from a fire and rescue background, and he is also a former retained firefighter to the Bucks fire and rescue service.
