On 1 September 2020, MHCLG issued a document containing updated guidance for the placing of construction products on the UK market (excluding Northern Ireland).

Subsequently the draft Construction Products (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 were laid before Parliament on 15 October 2020. They amend the Construction Products (Amendments etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019
(SI 2019/465)
to reflect the Northern Ireland Protocol. The 2020 Statutory Instrument's progress can be found here.

The existing EU Construction Products Regulation remains in force in the UK until 11pm on 31 December 2020 and as such no body can provide UKCA certification at this current time. However, please rest assured that BM TRADA remains ready to offer UKCA certification and related testing, to organizations placing products onto the UK market (including existing and new customers) as soon as the market is able to do so from 1 January 2021.

We are extensively involved in EU and UK Standards Committees, Notified Body Forums and continue to have a strong relationship with government and industry bodies which enables us to be closely involved with progress.

We have been in regular contact with our customers and will keep you updated on further changes as we receive them.

For products being placed onto the Northern Ireland market, please click here for further information. This is an evolving situation and we are working closely with government as it progresses.
