For manufacturers wishing to CE mark doors, BM TRADA operate a 'CE marking of external pedestrian doorsets with emergency exit devices' scheme.
In order to comply with the Construction Products Regulation which came into effect across Europe from 1 July 2013 any manufacturer placing a product on the market within the EU that is covered by a harmonized European standard (hEN) is required to CE mark their products.
CE marking external pedestrian doorsets scheme details
The majority of external pedestrian doors and windows covered by the harmonized standard BS EN 14351-1 are classed as being at AVCP level 3 and can be CE marked by the manufacturer without the use of a Notified Body.
External doorsets that are being used on escape routes are covered under the “Ability to Release” clause of the standard and are classed at being at AVCP level 1. As such they require the involvement of a Notified Body, such as BM TRADA, in confirming the suitability of the components used in the manufacture of the doorset and in carrying out regular audits of the factory production control process to ensure consistency of production.
