There are many different materials used in the manufacture of windows, doors or other products that are either not naturally durable or not aesthetically pleasing in their natural state. Therefore the application of a coating system is required to both protect and enhance the manufactured products.
BM TRADA identified that there are many vulnerable processes involved in the application of a coating system, which if any one aspect is not completed correctly could cause the finished product to fail in service. This is why the Paint Application Scheme was developed to raise the awareness and standards for this element of the finished product that is so often overlooked.
This scheme looks at the test evidence from the paint system supplier for each particular coating system used by a fabricator to ensure that it is suitable for the substrate to which it is applied. Each coating system will have its own processing requirements as defined by the system supplier which must be adhered to and this is audited against along with a number of additional areas which have a critical impact on the effectiveness of the coating system.
This scheme identifies approved people and approved coating systems for each certified company.
