Chain of Custody Certification
Chain of Custody certification is the unbroken path which products take from the forest to the consumer, including all stages of manufacturing, transportation and distribution. Chain of Custody certification provides evidence that the certified product originates from certified, well-managed forests.

BM TRADA is accredited by the Forest Stewardship Council to offer FSC Chain of Custody and by UKAS to offer Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) Chain of Custody Certification, and also operates its own Forest Products Certification Scheme. Clients may be certified to one or all of the schemes by BM TRADA.

Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
FSC is an international non-profit organisation founded in 1993 to support environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world's forests.

Its principal activities are the development of forest management and related standards, communications and education, and through a separate programme the accreditation and monitoring of certification bodies working to FSC standards.

Based on these standards, FSC has developed an international labelling scheme for forest products. In this way FSC provides an incentive in the market place for good forest stewardship – and enables consumers to track timber and wood products right back to the forest, with the assurance that they have been sourced from responsibly managed forests.

Over the past 12 years, more than 84 million hectares in 82 countries have been certified according to FSC standards, while several thousand products are produced using FSC-certified wood and wood fibre and carrying the FSC trademark. FSC operates through its network of National Initiatives in 40 countries. Visit
