Inviron Achieves New Certification
Date: 12th January 2009
Inviron, the leading building services and facilities management provider, has successfully achieved the updated version of the International standard for Occupation Health and Safety Management, BS OHSAS 18001.
This standard is intended to help businesses and organisations control occupational health and safety risks. Inviron was one of the first in the construction industry to be awarded the original Certification in June 2004.
Following an audit by BM TRADA, one of the few certification bodies that is accredited by UKAS (the sole UK accreditation body recognised by the DTI) to certify OHSAS management systems to this standard, Inviron is now registered to the new 2007 version.
There are a number of key changes from the previous standard, with health now given greater emphasis, along with the evaluation of compliance requirement being strengthened and extended to include everyone who Inviron is responsible for.
Sandra Clay, Inviron’s Business Improvement Manager, commented: “We are pleased to have received this updated certification and believe that it demonstrates Inviron’s management’s continued commitment to health and safety in the workplace.”
Stuart Gibson, BM TRADA, said: “Inviron has achieved this revised certification due to its continued responsible attitude towards occupational health and safety. We have been auditing Inviron for a number of years and have always found it to be open, honest and above all totally committed to ensuring the quality of its safety management systems.
“In particular, Garry Metcalfe, Inviron’s Managing Director, has continued to show total commitment towards the health and safety of its employees, which is apparent in the resource and training programme within the company.”
