Printers HPC achieves FSC/PEFC chain of custody
Date: 08th July 2008
Hastings Printing Co Ltd has achieved joint chain of custody certification under the FSC and PEFC schemes with BM TRADA.
The £4 million turnover company, based in St Leonard’s on Sea, East Sussex, has undertaken a major review of all the processes which impact on the environment, said Managing Director Alison Knoll. ‘It made sense to implement an international scheme which recognised the use of paper from well-managed sources.’
Investment in FSC/PEFC certification did entail a certain cost for the business. ‘However, the benefits are that we are able to offer a further service to our customers, in particular local authorities, government departments and charities, who are all specifying specific types of certified paper,’ Ms Knoll explained.
Undertaking chain of custody certification has involved staff throughout the organisation. ‘There is no doubt that it has made them as employees and as individuals more aware of environmental issues and concerns and they fully support the company’s efforts to be green.’
The company offers a full range of print and design services for a range of London-based companies. ‘ We have recently overhauled our digital equipment base and now offer one of the most extensive printing services available in the capital,’ he added.
