Jumbo Sales Turnover is Big Birthday Present for Genesis Timber Engineering

Date: 18th June 2008

The Gloucester based timber engineering company has just broken its record turnover for one month by £30,000, achieving a 50% higher than expected target. GTE™ is expecting to reach a turnover figure of £2,000,000 over the next twelve months.

"This couldn’t have been a better fifth birthday present for the company," commented Simon Baldwin, GTE™ sales director, "Since we moved into our new Bristol Road premises two years ago, we’ve grown our business satisfyingly rapidly, with regional developers, self builders plus timber frame companies forming our core customer base. I think the main reason for this growth is our reputation for being a trustworthy operation. People deal with people, not companies. We aim to treat both customers and our own staff the way we wish to be treated ourselves. This means delivering what we say we will when we say we will. In addition our five day emergency truss delivery service has proved to be a big hit with contractors."

More good news for the company is adding to the celebrations: GTE™ has been awarded the UK Timber Frame Association’s Q Mark, following an inspection by BM TRADA on behalf of the TFA into the company’s manufacturing processes, tolerances & administration systems. Phil Cloke, BM TRADA’s Auditor commented: "GTE™ run a system that is comprehensive and covers all aspects of the business process. Roof Truss & Timber Frame manufacturing areas are clearly under strict control resulting in conforming product being dispatched to customers."

Other company news includes an inspection by an assessor on behalf of the Investors in People standard, which has confirmed that GTE™ is still meeting the requirements of the scheme’s exacting standards. Commenting on the company’s success in this area, Chris Holt of Investors in People said:

"There is a belief in the vision and values of the organisation, and these provide focus and direction. The strategy to achieve the organisation’s aims relies on people at all levels understanding the contribution they make to the success of the business. There is a strong culture of consultation and involvement through regular team meetings and monthly one to ones. Staff can openly and honestly express their opinions without fear of retribution."

Testimony to GTE™'s ongoing investment in its staff is the rigorous forklift trucks handling training programme the company’s staff were recently required to undertake. GTE™ is proud to report that all employees passed this programme with flying colours.

With good news coming from so many areas of the business it seems that GTE™ has got the first half of 2008 off to a great start.
