Conscape achieves health & safety certification to OHSAS 18001
Date: 03rd June 2008
Conscape Ltd, specialist provider of environmental support services, comprehensive grounds maintenance and crowd management services, has achieved certification to the international health & safety management standard OHSAS 18001. This reflects Conscape’s commitment to Health & Safety within the organisation, including continual improvement in health & safety practises and complying with legislation through the maintenance of the Occupational Health & Management system.
Established in 1993, Conscape provides a comprehensive range of support services to both public and private sector bodies throughout the UK and Ireland. ‘Customer satisfaction and continual improvement remain our over-riding objectives in all services provided,’ said Conscape Director Jacqui Maguire. The company has held both ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:1999 certification since 2004 and successfully completed the transition to ISO 14001:2004 in 2005.
Ms Maguire said, ‘The benefits of operating an Integrated Management System incorporating these standards have been significant, in terms of meeting and exceeding client expectation, in opening up new opportunities for the company and in adding structure to the company during a key phase of its development.’ On this basis, we were keen to address health & safety management in the same manner, and OHSAS 18001 ‘fitted very easily’ into the Integrated Management System we had established.
Ms Maguire added, ‘Incorporating OHSAS 18001 into the system has ensured that as with our quality and environmental processes, health and safety issues are effectively addressed, managed and controlled, that areas where improvements are needed are clearly identifiable and that there is an effective mechanism in place to bring about improvement.’
With the strategic plan now implemented, the company has projected that over the next three years Conscape will provide employment for up to 40 more people throughout its areas of operation in Ireland. Positions will vary from administration, finance and accounting to marketing and sales. The working environment promoted within the company is one of personal development and individual performance recognition. Ms Maguire said, ‘The work ethic at Conscape is a very positive one and people very much enjoy working for the company.’
The company are confident that achieving and maintaining these standards will continue to contribute to Conscape’s development, increasing opportunities and overall lead to positive outcomes for the future.
